Istanbul: The Basilica Cistern
Everything in Istanbul is suggestive but the Basilica Cistern is something more.
It was built by Emperor Constantine as cistern for Constantinople Grand Palace under the main square of the city. It continued to be used for Topkapi Palace till the last years of its use.
It is 140x70 m sized with 336 columns of 9 m high. Two of them are leaning on two Medusa huge heads.
Opening hours from 9.00 to 19.00 every day. Price 10 TL.
