Istanbul: The Grand Bazar
Opened in 1461, the Grand Bazar is the historical market place in Istanbul. It is organized in "thematic" districts, among the others, jewelry, pottery, spice, carpet and leather spread in 58 covered streets and over 4000 shops. It is very crowded and you'll notice plenty of waiters almost running with tea trays to take Turkish coffee or tea to every store.
Pay attention to remember the gate from which you enter, among the 22 available, since it is easy to get lost inside. In fact every street is very similar to the other.
It is open every day from 8.30 am to 7 pm every day except the Islamic holidays. There is not any entrance fee.
