Istanbul: Hagia Sophia
One of the most important attraction in Istanbul is Hagia Sophia. Its name comes from the Greek "Saint Wisdom". Finished in 537 a.C. on the ruins of the building made by Constantine in 337 a.C.. Formerly seat of the Patriarchy, then a mosque. Now Hagia Sophia is a museum thanks to Ataturk's will.
Its wonderful Byzantine mosaics together with its huge dimension makes Hagia Sophia a wonderful place to visit able to transmit spirituality despite the high number of people visiting.
The museum is open between 09:00 - 16:30 except on Mondays, with longer opening hours during the summer months. Ticket 20 TL.
